The forecast said an 80 percent chance of rain and, indeed, the
showers started about
Many of those attending managed to brave the rain enough to do
two and even three courses.
The fastest time on the white course was by such second-coursers,
Brendyn Sullivan and Nick Spiegel of the Rio Linda JROTC, in 26:05. The
winners were Ritch, Richard and Yvette Gilleland and Eric, Cami and
Brian Werve of Rocklin Boy Scout Troop 29 in 32:03.
Jason Lynch, also doing his second course, had the fastest time
on yellow, 46:39. The second-fastest time, 54:41, was by Audrey
Selivanov, Cody Channell and Justin Furman of Rio Linda JROTC, doing
their second of three courses. The winners were Daniel Lambert and
Spencer Prier of Boy Scout Troop 88 of Placerville in 63:42.
The orange course was won by David Vang and Tony Li of Burbank
NJROTC.
Huge thanks are due to my volunteers, who sat for damp hours,
under or outside of tarps, to keep the meet running. Larry Lineback,
Kristin Higginson and Vicki Curl of Rio Linda JROTC ably ran
registration. Stew Hintz printed the map masters and efficiently took
care of starts. Dave Takacs did his usual yeoman job on finishes. Kathy
Tegtmeier and Mike Christensen helped with finishes. Jeff Thompson
