The weather did not cooperate with us for our first meet of 2010! Instead of the sunny spring day we had hoped for, we had chilly, blustery winds all morning, turning into rain before noon. That translated into poor participation, unfortunately.

Marsha Jacobs created a very fun Score-O course that took people all over campus to try to find the 35 control circles in 60 minutes. There were no controls out; participants had to answer a multiple-choice question about something they found in the center of the circle. Some questions were tricky and you had to carefully read and choices! If you were wrong, you lost a point, as you can see from the results below. Also, if you came back late, you also lost a point for every minute or portion of a minute.

Only one person made it to all 35 controls; you had to be moving quickly and accurately to make them all. Dan Rathbun had the only perfect score and it only took him 42:37. Several others came quite close. Stephan Harrison of BAOC found 34, but lost a point for a wrong answer.

I wish to give hearty thanks to my stalwart (and warmly dressed) crew of Marsha at registration, Stew Hintz at starts and Dave Takacs at finishes. We were all glad, given the weather, that no controls were out there, since that meant no control pickup in the rain!
